When she came of age, Teiris left Vanahal, chosing to protect the smaller villages scattered throughout Asmodae rather than bask in a glory that was not her own. Shortly after leaving her family, she was overtaken by ascension while singing to a group of wounded Asmodians after an Elyos attack; she blessed them with the strength they needed to make it to Pandaemonium for protection and healing.

Despite her ascension and her accumulating renown, Teiris still refuses to return to Vanahal. History: Ages ago, shortly after the Tower of Eternity shattered, the Shedim Lords along with the beings that would soon become the Asmodians began to construct the city of Pandaemonium. Építész Stíndal was one of the more innovative masons that were drafted into the creation of the city, receiving the honour of working on the Temple of Knowledge with a few other chosen Daeva; for the exceptional work they provided, each member of Építész' team was given holdings within Vanahal.

The first few generations of the Stíndal family continued their founder's legacy by working not only on various additions to the city and surrounding outposts, but also through funding the fledgling war efforts with both kinah and equipment as well as a number of excellent soldiers. It would not, however, continue as the war with the Elyos began to drag on.

Recent generations of Stíndals have chosen to live off the largess of their inheritance, contributing little beyond crafted goods to the war effort. Their time was spent relaxing within their estate, or at parties held within Vanahal, or engaging in politics; though their children were still subjected to the rigorous training that all the young within Vanahal receive, less than half of them ever ascended to the ranks of the Daeva and very few of those who did bothered with the protection of Asmodae.

Even from the beginning of her childhood, the grand splendor of Vanahal always made Teiris uncomfortable; something about it seemed to contradict the things she was learning about in her training. Whenever she questioned her family about their time served in the war, she was always rebuked with explanations of monetary donations or donations of fine armour and weapons. It seemed nearly all of her family had skirted the call to arms, and she did not even find the amounts and frequency of their donations to be enough to cover such avoidance of the battlefield.

As she matured, the young Asmodian noble became more and more withdrawn from her family and many of her peers - it seemed the Stíndal family were not the only ones within Vanahal who rested on the laurels of their forefathers. Her parents mistook her preference for isolation as merely a focus upon her studies, rather than a desire to disassociate herself with those around her. This lack of interaction with her peers beyond training lead to a sort of shy timid nature, unless she was performing.

The child was not all that old when her parents realised that she had an exceptional vocal talent, and immediately began to have her trained in classical singing styles. It was not long before her parents began to use her as something akin to a party favour, forcing her to sing at their own parties and then selling her talents out to the highest bidder for other noble gatherings. Slowly, they began to bleed the joy out of the one thing that Teiris had ever found any sort of truth and comfort in.

During her early teenage years, Teiris encountered the son of a human-born general named Dízelnov while working in the Artisan district of Pandaemonium. He was struggling to understand the basics of Alchemy, laboring at the lab beside the young girl while muttering his frustrations out. Inexplicably, the young noble had the desire to help him, and the two became friends despite the fact Teiris could only really see the boy when she went to the Artisan district.

Dízelnov recounted the tales of his father's adventures in the Abyss, however unlike those in Vanahal who educated children on the exploits of their forefathers, Dízelnov's stories were recent and his father had scars from battle. The boy radiated a sense of pride that Teiris had not seen in most of her peers or their parents, the elation of knowing that his close relation was protecting Asmodae, and that someday he might be to, that was lacking in many she had met in Vanahal's social circles.

As the young girl became a young woman, her parents began searching for a suitable husband for her, though Teiris herself had no interest in marriage just yet - she was barely thirteen, and just coming to accept the idea that she liked Dízelnov as more than just a study partner and friend...not that she had any idea of how to tell the young man such a thing.

By the end of her thirteenth year, Teiris' parents announced her betrothal to a nobleman who was nearly twice her age. Dmitri Krvolok was the descendant of one of the richer families in Vanahal, though he had already been married twice; both of his wives had died mysteriously, and the nobleman accused his contemporaries of their murders, and both times 'commoner nobles' were convicted by the Shadow Court.

When the news reached Dízelnov's father, the general warned his son of the truths behind Krvolok's past - though they never could find complete evidence to bring against the nobleman, the families of the men who were convicted had found suggestions that Krvolok had murdered the women himself and planted evidence in the homes of the 'commoner nobles'. There were several theories as to what Krvolok's motives were, however the more plausible ones included the ideas that he was trying to expand his family's wealth and standing by essentially absorbing the households of his wives and that he was trying to rid Vanahal of the 'commoner scum' that were slowly joining the ranks of nobility - neither idea sat well with Dízelnov. The young man took his father's words to heart, and asked the more experienced man how he could keep Teiris from having to marry the nobleman; after hours of heated and emotional discussion, Dízelnov had a plan and the promise of assistance from his father.

Dízelnov intentionally left some of his alchemical supplies at home the next day, inviting Teiris to join him in gathering the supplies they would need for their work. Together, the pair made their way to Moslan Forest, and Dízelnov revealed what he had learned from his father about Krvolok; with Teiris' knowledge of the nobility standings, they determined that the nobleman's two prior wives came from families that were just barely higher in status than Teiris' own, confirming in their minds that Krvolok was indeed trying to absorb the standing of other houses into his own.

The young noble became quite distressed over the future that seemed to loom before her, even after Dízelnov quietly told her of the plan he'd formulated with his father; she was quite aware of how manipulative her parents were, and how far-reaching Krvolok's influence would be when combined with her parents. Despite reassurances from Dízelnov that his father would be able to protect her, and that her parents wouldn't be able to find her in the Besfer Refugee Village, she couldn't bring herself to have as much faith in the plan as her friend did.

Dízelnov would be remaining behind in Pandaemonium, while his father would be returning to the outskirts of Morheim with the majority of his army, both of them presenting a masque of concern and confusion at her disappearance. The boy swore that as soon as it was possible, he'd be joining her at the village, even though it may take a year or two for the commotion of her disappearance to fade into the background of Vanahal.

Several days later, Dízelnov's mother had finished sewing several sets of simple clothing that were common of the residents of Besfer as well as having made enough food for the long journey there, the majority of which the young woman would spend hiding in a wagon that was part of a supply caravan. Once they were outside of Altgard, Teiris would be free to walk with other workers, if she wished.

Teiris left the estate of her parents under the pretenses that she was going to work on her skills within the Artisans' Temple, however she never actually made it far from Vanahal. The young noble, as far as Pandaemonium was concerned, was cornered by several unsavory men and forcefully taken from the city; she never arrived at the Temple, nor did she ever make it back to her parent's estate.

By nightfall, the word of Teiris' abduction had reached the Stíndal family and Krvolok. While the Stíndals attempted to accuse Dízelnov of the crime, Krvolok began accusing several of his contemporaries of attempting to ransom his bride-to-be. The Shadow Court began their investigations, and Dízelnov was released when it was confirmed that he had been spending all of his waking hours working in the Alchemy labs of the Artisans' Temple. Krvolok's accusations, however, were not so easily discarded and the proceedings would drag out for some time.

The Stíndals did not let go of their suspicions about Dízelnov, and spent a great deal of kinah on having the young man watched night and day. For his part, the young man continued his regular activities, though his drive for alchemy was slowly diminishing and his progress began to slow as a result; the shadowers could not find any evidence that the man had any part in Teiris' abduction, however they confirmed that the boy was devastated by it. The Stíndal patron, obsessed with the idea that Dízelnov was at fault, decided to vent his frustration at not finding his daughter's captors by having the young alchemist assassinated.

Meanwhile, far from Pandaemonium, Teiris began her life in the refugee village. The young woman worked in the infirmary, using her knowledge of herbology and alchemy to help tend to the wounded and ill. Although Dízelnov's father received word of his son's death only a few days after it occurred, his forces were quite entrenched in combat; the general also had not been given the girl's new alias, so it was nearly two years before she learned of her friend's death.

The general visited the outpost, locating Teiris within a few hours of his arrival. Dízelnov's father didn't have to say a word for the young woman to know that her friend would never be joining her at the village. With an eerie detachment that came from years of self-imposed isolation, the hiding noblewoman grilled the general for every last detail he knew about Dízelnov's death. The next morning, the general took his leave, and Teiris began reflecting on the events surrounding her flight from Pandaemonium, wondering how much longer Dízelnov would have lived if she had just married Krvolok.

In the end, she realised that one or both of them would have died then, and decided not to waste her friend's sacrifice by returning to Pandaemonium. Instead, she began to wander from village to village, helping where she could with her alchemical knowledge while developing the skill further.

((Added nifty relationship scale section. I tried to browse through a bit of the rumor section to find the surnames of other Vanahal residents, but there wasn't much there. If anyone can suggest some, especially a few of the longer established lines, it'd be great because Teiris would know of the family's existence even if she didn't know a lot about each member.

This is one of my favourite character sheets on the forum, I'm liking the details in her history and how it and the style of your writing seem to fit her very well. Looking forward to seeing your rp in-game :)

((*blushes* Thank you. It's still a little unfinished, because I'm working on getting it to lead into her journal over on AetherNET. This is also ah, the short version. I've got a series of songs I'm trying to sort and select to write them out as full on stories set to specific lyrics. >.>))
